8 Mistakes Bloggers Should Avoid

It is common for every beginner to make mistakes and errors at the beginning. It’s not their responsibility for committing in the first place. It’s because of a lack of experience about what is blogging.Usually, when starting a blog, people don’t have mucu idea about blogging. They just read few synopsis and outline. Yet, they don’t know how everything works. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything to knock out of the park. You can do wonders on google if you wisely use SEO tactics. Due to no traffic and encouragement, A lot of newbies are relinquishing from the blogging community. But, this time, this is where you’re committing a huge mistake that will impact everything. It’s one of the stupidest mistakes that bloggers do.

A fool sees not the same tree that a wise man sees.- Willian Blake

You may not see the importance and value of blogging in the beginning. But, once you dive into that platform, your opinion will definitely happen to change. Not only new bloggers are committing flaws but also experienced bloggers who is now earning huge money also could have done mistakes in their earlier years. So, it’s all about how we learn ourselves from the mistakes we did and move on with great work.

Though, Let’s see 8 biggest and stupid mistakes bloggers should avoid from now :

1. InConsistency

Inconsistency is one of the biggest mistakes that new bloggers and beginners do. They are more likely to procrastinate their posts and projects out of laziness. If you’re really pushing your work, then you shouldn’t do blogging. I would say it’s not the correct platform for you.

A committed blogger either he is beginner or intermediate, will do his work and move on as per the schedule he planned. Scheduling the posts and promoting posts is one of the most important factors of the blogging community. So, without any schedule and being inconsistent leads your blog into vain and you may not achieve what you wanted. Though, to be consistent, schedule and planning is the way to put out your efforts on your site.

Here how you can schedule the posts and post-promoting :

  • Publish at least 1-2 posts per week with quality. Even 1 post is enough if it is high quality.
  • Schedule Social media promotions every day with a different article.
  • Keep a whole day for SEO works

That’s all you can do to be consistent.

2. Plagiarism

A lot of bloggers do this silly mistake, probably in the beginning plagiarize ( copy ) other’s site content to your blog. I suppose it’s because of a lack of experience. They don’t know what happens if they copy other’s work and paste on your article. Plagiarizing the content may lead to termination of your blog or google Adsense suspends advertising services on your site for violating their community guidelines and rules.

Though, you should avoid stealing other’s work and show your users as it is your work. I would say you no need to copy the work even if you are lack of ideas. It’s really important for every blogger to sharpen their minds and put out the creativity on their articles. You don’t need to put stress on it, but if you think wisely. You will get tons of ideas for posts out of your mind.

With being said, you better go for a route where your different from other’s bloggers. When another blogger is doing an article on ” How to Lose Weight “, you can do article on ” Why should do lose weight “. That’s called Creativity and if you copy the same topic and title, that’s called Plagiarism.

3. Not Caring about SEO practices

SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ) is the life of blogging. Without SEO, you don’t get traffic and you will be unsuccessful. A lot of new bloggers don’t know much about SEO tactics and how it works. However, you need to know that it’s easy to understand the theory of SEO. But, it’s bit tough in performing it.

In simple words, SEO is the process of optimizing your site to get quality and quantity traffic from google search results which is considered as ” Organic Traffic ” also “Unpaid traffic”

There are two types of SEO called On-page and Off-page SEO. On-page SEO discusses the inside of your blog whereas, Off-page SEO discusses the outside of your blog. Without performing these two strategies, it will be very hard for you to grow your blog to high standards and to be successful. Fortunately, if you’re using WordPress, Yoast SEO plugin will help you guide on On-page SEO. But you gotta take care of off-page by yourselves.

Here : SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ) Step by Step Guide

4. Low-Quality Posts

Low-quality posts are nothing but, an article with poor grammar, no SEO, and no depth of the subject. I saw a number of bloggers posting articles with 1000-2000 words with no proper explanation and outline. They couldn’t understand that Quality is superior than Quantity. Those types of bloggers fill the meaningless words with no context just to complete the 1000 words mark. That was one of the stupidest mistakes some bloggers do.

But, the real truth is google always give chance to great quality articles whether they’re 500 words or 1500 words. I think tons of new bloggers mishearing the google that it shows support to only blogs that publish more than 1500 words. Apparently, that’s not the truth. It’s all about how much an article tells to the audience. Let the article be 500 or 1000 words, the question is if it’s providing enough content to users? You don’t need to stretch the length of your words, but you gotta make sure if you’re furnishing enough quality content to the audience.

5. Not Optimizing User Experience

Sometimes, our blogs don’t work properly on a PC or mobile screen. That happens due to the mistakes like :

  • Bulky Irresponsive themes
  • Not customizing the layout
  • Not optimizing your website
  • Avoiding the cache
  • Unnecessary plugins

These are the mistakes that you should avoid and your users can’t able to use your site properly which mean It’s not user friendly. So, it’s better to keep a light and clean theme that loads quickly. As you can see, there are tons of best themes you can find in WordPress. You can either buy them or use them freely as long as you’re a beginner.

However, particularly some bloggers are installing petty plugins that give nothing to their blog. Those plugins may give you few benefits, but you don’t know it’s actually consumez your blog resources to huge extent which leads up to slow loading site. It’s like ruining your blog quality. So, for the reason, you must uninstall them right away. Though, it’s better to have one cache cleaner plugin like wp rocket or litespeed. It helps to boost up your site performance.

6. Not Upgrading your old posts

It’s one of the biggest and common mistakes that bloggers should avoid. After getting 1 year of blogging experience, you would definitely gain some new knowledge about blogging if you compare to yourself at the beginning. At initial stage, you may don’t know what you really did on articles, you might’ve done grammar errors and given no proper explanation. So, you can go back to those articles and improve the articles as better as your latest articles.

Every blogger could’ve faced this lot of times. Even I had updated my old articles. Honestly, it’s a little bit cringy for us to read our old articles and feel like ” Is that really me who wrote this dumb article ” You may relate to this point. So, you should avoid this one of the common mistakes.

7. Being Insecure and Dejected about Traffic

This is one of the common reasons why a large number of bloggers leaving their blogs and relinquishing from their positions. These cases mostly occur between beginning 3-6 months stage where they feel they aren’t getting any support and traffic to their site. It’s because of two reasons :

  • You aren’t producing great content or either doing mistakes like failing to provide enough content to the audience
  • Patience and Commitment – Lot of beginners give up due to lack of patience.

All you have to make sure is if you’re creating good quality content and wait for your day ( being patient) and you should avoid this.

8. Finally, giving up on a Blogging Career!

This is one of the final biggest mistakes that bloggers are doing. Whether it’s because of lack of encouragement or traffic. They are giving up their career on blogging. Moreover, those people are spreading claims like ” Blogging is Dead ” but they couldn’t understand that ” Blogging is dead for them only”.

Even if it’s youtube or blogging, they are really great platforms to show your skills and knowledge. But, it may take some time but that doesn’t mean you’re useless and pawn in them. Once you start having patience and commitment, it is damn sure you’ll achieve what you strived for. So keep doing the work with patience and commitment.

Although, these are the biggest mistakes that bloggers are committing and should avoid from now.

I’m probably the worst at number 7! I have edited my first few posts, but probably need to go back and add more depth. I followed the really simple Yoast suggestions and thought 300 words was enough!

These are all great insights. Not updated old posts is definitely a fail. Content can become seriously outdated on your site, and you need to stay on top of things and keep it fresh. Either delete old content if it no longer is relevant or update it so that it stays fresh.

I agree! Please keep in mind there are people out there who blog who for the fun of it or as a hobby (like me), so for some #8 isn’t a major issue as they don’t have a financial goal.
