Black Panther 2 Reviews: Critics Call It “Best Movie in Phase 4”

Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever premiere screening has just ended, and the critics' reviews are flooding in with interesting takes.

As the red carpet of MCU’s Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever just finished, the media, critics, and die-hard fans of marvel were able to see the beauty of Wakanda ahead of its official release date. Now, the social media review embargo has been lifted, and critics and fans have shared their initial thoughts and their short reviews on the sequel.

Lando, CCA Member of @criticschoice, and Rotten Tomatoes calls it outstanding:

“WakandaForever is outstanding. It handles loss, grief and revenge with a maturity and seriousness rarely seen in the MCU. Black Panther continues to be their crown jewel. Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett and Tenoch Huerta all bring some of the best acting I’ve seen all year.”

Charles Pulliam, the Film & TV writer of The Verge calls it Marvel’s most intimate and heartfelt:

WakandaForever’s bigger in scope and scale than BlackPanther, but its story is also one of Marvel’s most intimate and heartfelt. It’s definitely a Comic Book Movie, but it’s one that centers grief and the grieving process rather than superheroics and spectacle.

FicoCangiano, a Member of CriticsChoicecalls it a beautiful tribute to Boseman’s legacy:

“WakandaForever is fantastic! Coogler delivers a soulful, wondrous sequel that packs an emotional punch & effectively explores relevant world themes. A beautiful tribute to Boseman’s legacy. Letitia & Tenoch are great, & the mid-credits scene is really moving.”

Samuel Leggett Jr, a Member of CriticsChoice and RTC calls it the best Marvel film since Avengers: Endgame:

WakandaForever is easily the best Marvel film since Avengers: Endgame. The scope, the camera work, the acting, and the raw emotions on and off screen can be felt throughout! This is the Marvel I’ve missed! I had one word in my heart all night; “WOW…”

Jack McBryan, Co-Founder of The Direct, calls it the best MCU project of Phase 4:

“WakandaForever is phenomenal. Easily the best MCU project of Phase 4. I can not understate how masterful the score is from start to finish. There are no weak links in the cast, but I have to give a special shoutout to Angela Basset and Letitia Wright who really blew me away. All of the MCU fans who are getting a little tired of the humor will be happy to know WakandaForever is a much more serious movie. Jokes are rare past the halfway point of the movie, for the most part, this is one of the more earnest films in the MCU.”

Brian Davids, Writer of The Hollywood Reporter, calls it Marvel’s most poignant and powerful film:

“Black Panther: WakandaForever is Marvel’s most poignant and powerful film to date. It’s heavy and dark in the way that it needed to be, and mostly abandons the studio’s trademark tone. The craft work levels up in every conceivable way, and the performances rise to the occasion.”

Daniel Howat, Journalist for @NextBestPicture calls it may be the best Marvel movie yet:

“WakandaForever is blockbuster filmmaking on another level. It surpasses the incredible first film with high stakes and and thrilling world-building. It’s an emotional, dark journey, leading to a full-scale war, but always feels personal. This may be the best Marvel movie yet. The entire ensemble is phenomenal, but Tenoch Huerta bursts onto the scene with a brilliant, complex turn as Namor. The cinematography, score, visual effects – everything is even better than before. Some of the best crafts in any Marvel film. A breath of fresh air all around.”

Tessa Smith, Film & TV Critic of RottenTomatoes calls it a war movie :

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever feels like a war movie. It’s emotional, heavy, intense & phenomenal. Namor is an incredible & powerful villain. WakandaForever focuses on grief, loss, & vengeance. You aren’t ready for the Marvel logo & mid credit. It honors Chadwick perfectly.”

theatomchode, Indiewire Film Journalist calls it a war movie :

“WakandaForever REVIEW: MARVEL’S MAGNUM OPUS. Ryan Coogler does it again, delivering a very EMOTIONAL, EPIC & sexy, horny adventure. WOW. This isn’t just another superhero movie, it’s one of the BEST films ever! GREAT action too. A fitting end setting up what’s next”

Steven Weintraub, Editor-in-chief, Collider calls it a fantastic sequel :

“I know you don’t believe when people come out of a world premiere and say a movie is awesome….but BlackPanther: WakandaForever is a fantastic sequel and a great movie. I knew it’d be emotional and it was. Expect your eyes to leak. Great job RyanCoogler.”

Rian Johnson, Director of Knives Out, & Looper calls it real artistry :

“Takes real artistry to make something as huge & expansive as Wakanda Forever feel intimate and heartfelt. All hail the mighty Coogler. Loved it.”
