In an exclusive interview with The Direct, She-Hulk director Kat Coiro revealed Marvel considered bringing back Edward Norton for the final scene.
During the conversation, Coiro noted that Marvel Studios had entertained the idea of swapping out Mark Ruffalo for Edward Norton for Hulk’s long-awaited reunion with Abomination, as Banner was played by a different actor when they last met:
“There was a lot of talk about the fact that the last time they were together a different actor was playing the Hulk. And Mark [Ruffalo] made quite a few jokes about that. And we did entertain the idea of swapping Mark out for Edward Norton. But that did not come to pass.”
Although the She-Hulk team had hilarious ideas for how Norton’s cameo could contribute to the finale, Marvel Studios and Feige would likely have stifled the idea so that they wouldn’t experience the same problems as they did during The Incredible Hulk. Moreover, some viewers might find it confusing to have Norton back after such a long time.
Is there a possibility of seeing Edward Norton in the MCU again?
Given that he was fired from the franchise after just one outing, it’s unlikely he will want to return, since the actor may not be interested in reuniting with them. Though, there is still a possibility that Edward Norton could be offered to play the multiverse version of Hulk in the MCU, likely in Avengers: Secret Wars. Nevertheless, that is up to him.
