Lionsgate Is Officially Developing ‘John Wick’ AAA Video Game

Lionsgate is reportedly considering a "big AAA game" based on the John Wick series.

Lionsgate is looking to keep the John Wick franchise running in any way it can, although we know that the franchise will continue with the upcoming sequels, prequel series The Continental, and a spinoff film entitled Ballerina in the near future starring Ana de Armas, and John Wick himself. The studio is reportedly considering a “big AAA game” based on the John Wick series.

According to Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer during a recent earnings call earlier this week, the company has been looking into pitches for a video game based on the John Wick films. It is still unclear when the game will be developed, but he teased that it would most likely be developed by a triple-A developer should something come to fruition.

A AAA game is a high-budget, high-profile video game published and distributed by major, well-known publishers. They are often considered blockbusters because of their popularity. Examples would be — Assassin’s Creed, GTA 5, The last of Us.

“I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but we believe there is a big AAA game to be made out of John Wick. We have been fielding proposals. We certainly are interested in moving that forward, but I don’t want to say anything more about that at this time.” Said Feltheimer.

Previously, we’ve seen John Wick appear in Epic Games’ Fortnite as well as in his own game, John Wick Hex in 2020, a 2019 timeline strategy game from Bithell Games that served as a prequel to the films.

It’s time Lionsgate finds a developer who can bring the story of their Boogeyman — John Wick to life in a video game, or who knows they may already have.
