5G Officially Launched in India

On 1st October 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 5G services in India, marking the beginning of the country's use of next-generation networks.

First 5G networks will be available in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune.

In the coming months, Indian cities, towns and villages will have access to the next-gen network, and within two to three years, the entire country will have access to 5G.

In a recent statement, the Ministry of Communications said: "5G to be launched by the Prime Minister in select cities will progressively cover the entire country over the next couple of years. The cumulative economic impact of 5G on India is expected to reach $450 billion by 2035.”

India is the world's second-largest smartphone market after China, and the launch of 5G will increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency, and network efficiency by more than a factor of three.
