'Deadpool' Christmas Special Is Reportedly In The Works

According to a reliable source, giantfreakinrobot, Marvel is looking to build on the successful and much-loved Ryan Reynolds series by bringing a festive spirit to the Deadpool movie series.

During a recent interview with The Big Issue, Ryan Reynolds revealed that he and his Deadpool co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had written an entire Christmas movie based on Deadpool, which was ultimately lost in the shuffle following the Walt Disney Company's acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2019.

However, Ryan Reynolds expressed the possibility that the Deadpool Christmas movie may become a reality at some point in the future.

Now, as per giantfreakinrobot, there seems to be a good chance that Marvel may have an interest in this project and could cash in on it with a Christmas special.

Over the course of Marvel Comics, Deadpool has appeared during Christmas season. In one instance, Deadpool worked with Spider-Man to save the holiday from a vengeful god, while Wade Wilson found himself in another instance when children who had no presents hired him to kill Santa.

As of late, Disney has also been increasingly focused on producing streaming projects rather than theatrical releases for its Disney+ platform. So, it's probably safer to release a Deadpool Christmas special than a movie.

The upcoming superhero movie Deadpool 3 will star Hugh Jackman reprising the role of Wolverine, and it is expected to hit theaters on 8 November 2024.
