Henry Cavill Says Goodbye to Superman Role

Henry Cavill has confirmed on Instagram that he will not be returning as Superman anymore, following James Gunn’s announcement that the master plan for the new DC has been finalized.

Writing on his Instagram, he confirmed the news, “I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman.”

The future for Henry Cavill as Superman was reportedly less assured before he confirmed his return. Cavill said that there were ideas for a Man of Steel sequel when he first said he would return for it. However, once Gunn and Safran were hired, those intentions changed.

Jamess Gunn took to Twitter to announce that he and DC Studios co-president Peter Safran have completed the new DC slate and would reveal further details in the new year.
