Indiana Jones 5 Will Be Set  In 1969

Jez Butterworth, the film's co-screenwriter, has revealed the plot summary for Indiana Jones 5, during an interview with Empire magazine.

The film will take place in 1969 during the height of the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union. With many of the scientists behind the space programs having Nazi backgrounds, Jones is determined to find nefarious activity hidden in their explorative endeavor.

“The simple fact is that the moon-landing program was run by a bunch of ex-Nazis. How ‘ex’ they are is the question. And it gets up Indy’s nose…” “It’s not just that the model of what a hero is has completely changed. It’s not just that they’re looking for something where there’s nothing up there – it’s like Reno without the gambling, or whatever his line is. But the people that are behind it are, you know, his sworn enemies.” Screenwriter said.

According to earlier reports, Harrison Ford will be de-aged in some scenes of the movie, potentially flashback sequences, and the story, like the last installment, will acknowledge the character's age.

In addition, Empire revealed the first look at Mads Mikkelsen, who looks a lot like Toht. However, he plays a character named Voller, who is believed to be based on Wernher von Braun.

Jez Butterworth, the film's co-screenwriter, states that he's a character who wishes to correct some of the mistakes of the past.
